If none of the steps in the article above wouldn't help, please try to unlink the account by choosing Sign Out from the OneDrive app menu bar. Then sign-in back again. If this would not help, try to re-install the app. In order to un-install it, just drag the OneDrive app to the Recycle Bin. Then you will have to download the app here.

Second attempt

Perform a clean OneDrive installation

  1. Unlink OneDrive by click OneDrive icon, choose Preferences, then About, click Unlink.
  2. Remove the app by following these steps:
    1. Open the Applications folder.
    2. Drag the blue OneDrive cloud to the trash.
    3. Enter your MAC credentials.
    4. Click OK.
  3. Remove the additional OneDrive files.
    1. Press Apple (COMMAND) + SHIFT+ G in finder, or use Terminal.
    2. Go to /Users/<name>/Library/Containers
    3. Find the 2 folders
      • com.microsoft.skydrive-mac
      • com.microsoft.SkyDriveLauncher
    4. Drag them to the trash.
  4. Remove the locally stored OneDrive folder.
  5. If you installed with the default settings, there will be the OneDrive folder under your name.
  6. Drag it to the trash.
  7. Now, you can re-install OneDrive from here.

*None of these steps actually delete your files from OneDrive but you should always have a back-up of all your files, just in case you ever lose access to your OneDrive. However, all data that was synced before will need to re-sync after following these steps. Files that have not yet been synced won't be on your OneDrive yet, so those won't be recovered if you follow these steps.

Third attempt

Please check if the issue can be reproduced using another Microsoft account. Then try to create new Mac user profile (if you are not sure how to do it, you will have to obtain the steps from Apple help pages or customer support) and install OneDrive on that new user profile.
It might worth to try using OpenDNS servers, too. Please try changing your DNS servers to:

  • 208.67.222.222 (or resolver1.opendns.com)
  • 208.67.220.220 (or resolver2.opendns.com)

How to Set Up OneDrive Free on a Mac

For OneDrive to work, you need two basic items: a Microsoft account and the OneDrive for Mac application. Both are free.

If you don't already have a Microsoft ID, go to the Microsoft ID signup screen and select No account? Create one! Supply the requested information and create a password. Before you know it, you'll have a new Microsoft ID.

  1. Go to the OneDrive website.

  2. Click the Sign In button and enter your ID.

  3. Your browser will display the default OneDrive folder configuration. Go to the bottom of the sidebar and click or press Get the OneDrive App link.

  4. Click the Download button to download OneDrive for Mac.

  5. Open your Mac's downloads folder and double-click the OneDrive.pkg file.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the OneDrive application on your Mac.

Using OneDrive

OneDrive acts much like any other folder on your Mac. The only difference is that the data within it is also stored on remote OneDrive servers. In the OneDrive folder are three default folders labeled Documents, Pictures, and Public. You can add as many folders as you want and create any system of organization that suits you.
