One Reason Why USC Will Win
JT Daniels is back, and if this works, the offense should finally start to be a bit more fun.
Overall, the Trojan O has had a world of issues. It’s having a hard time controlling the clock, there are way too many turnovers, and the running game isn’t clicking.
Oregon State’s defense is the fix for all of that.
The Beaver run defense is getting destroyed for 200 yards or more in four of the last five games – only Washington State was under, and it’s only because it’s Washington State and throws. So for a Trojan team that needs to ease Daniels into the mix, it should be able to pound away a bit.
USC doesn’t have to do anything crazy. Just keep the offense moving, don’t get clobbered in the turnover battle, and let Daniels hit the makable throws without forcing anything.
Yeah, the Beavers came up with an epic comeback against Colorado, but that won’t happen again if USC can just be steady.

After missing four games, Jake Luton stepped in against Colorado and caught fire in the epic 41-34 win, completing 72% of his throw for 310 yards and three scores. He was the “got better as the game went on” cliché, and now he has to be sharp again.
The USC defense hasn’t been anything special against good passing teams, getting hit for 341 yards against Utah a few weeks ago, and giving up big plays from time to time.

Luton has to be great again, and Jermar Jefferson has to be able to handle the ball at least 25 times and has to get 100 yards for the third time in the last four games.
USC is the far better team, and if it doesn’t screw up, it’ll win. But Oregon State has a win now, and at home, go for it and let it rip.
This isn’t that great a USC team. Lightning might strike again for the Beavers.
