Here’s an overview of the new Skype for Business 2016 Mac client. As stated in the introduction, anyone can now download Skype for Business for Mac from Microsoft. The system requirements for Skype for Business on Mac are OS X 10.11 El Capitan or macOS Sierra 10.12. We are excited to announce the start of the Skype for Business Mac Public Preview. Commercial customers can request an invite to test the Mac client at www.SkypePreview.com. We’ll start by issuing invites to IT administrators to download the client and gradually expand the preview to everyone in the coming weeks. Thanks for posting here.

For better understand your situation, please let us know the following information below:

  1. This issue occurs after you login to the Skype for Business client successfully or when you launch it but you haven't typed in the SIP address and password?
  2. If other users who have the same domain with you to use this Skype for Business client, does issue persist?
  3. If you login in other normal Skype for Business clients, if this issue persists there? Note: those Skype for Business clients need update to the version 16.23.65.
  4. What troubleshooting steps had you done?
  5. We'd like to collect screenshot about the 'CPU that's maxed out' for further checking.

2. I don't think I understand your question here.

3. This is the only instance of Skype for Business I use.

4. Other than posting here, just force quitting Skype for Business and restarting it.

About the question 2, I mean you can let your colleagues login to this Skype for Business client to check if the issue persists, as they have the same domain with you.

Give this situation, I will sent you a script in private message to uninstall this client to try again. If you don't receive the private message, you can open your community profile > View private message to access it.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, whether these users are using Windows or Mac platforms, we would like to use this way to exclude if this issue is related to your Office 365 for business account.

Pros: As briefly indicated by the title, the most valuable aspect of this software is its ability to truly serve as an extremely flexible channel of communication in both an active and a passive sense. Not only does the software function as a platform to send messages, chat casually and professionally, share your screen, easily upload and download files, and more, but it also functions as a way to keep tabs on the activities of your fellow co-workers without having to physically ask them whether they are fully available, busy, or in an important meeting where they cannot be disturbed. Since the software automatically updates whether you are away from your computer or on it, others can know if it is a good time to talk to you, or if you are currently inactive or busy. In addition, perhaps my personal favorite aspect of this software is that you can choose to not receive messages for a certain period of time. This makes me feel calm and relaxed when presenting my screen to a group of coworkers, knowing that no private information will pop up on my screen via a Skype chat.

Cons: Although this software has been truly helpful and rewarding throughout the years where I have used it on a daily basis, there is one small aspect where I have always felt like improvement could be made. Once a skype chat is closed, all messages are immediately lost and, as far as I know, there is no way to recover them. As a result, important information can be accidentally dismissed, or a crash of the application can cause info to get lost, forcing the user to have to ask for it again. This has been a relatively frequent problem that my co workers and I share, and has forced us to use another form of instant messaging when sending links that we may need to access multiple times. A feature to 'save' messages or 'pin' them would certainly be largely satisfactory to many users.

Overall: Skype for Business is a phenomenal software that has truly incorporated a lot of features into one extremely easy-to-use application. Knowing that you can stay in communication with absolutely anyone in your firm, and knowing their availability throughout the entire workday makes it a very convenient application to use, which is why I will continue to use it as a my first option for communication and messaging at work. The subtle and slight change of granting a user the ability to save certain messages would be a large plus, but regardless of whether or not such a feature gets incorporated, the software remains highly useful, effective, and dynamic.
